Fashion designer Masaba Gupta premiered her first ever bridal collection at Shaadi by Marriott, an event which was hosted at the JW Marriott Kolkata in the city on Saturday (Nov 24, 2018). A fashion presentation by the House of Masaba was organised in the city. Masaba's collection, which is ode to the modern bride, was presented in the format of a wedding that began with a Marwari Sangeet and culminated in a Bengali marriage. While Durga Puja is over, Kolkata witnessed the last of the grand celebrations with some 72, mostly award-winning, idols of the goddess in tableaux paraded through Red Road on Tuesday (23-10-2018) ahead of their immersion. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee along with a host of celebrties and thousands of spectators were present at the show dubbed as a carnival. Toronto's downtown turned into a celebration square on Sunday (Aug 19, 2018) for India's 72nd Independence Day as Panorama India, with the support of the Consulate General of India, Toronto, hosted the 19th India Day Grand Parade at Nathan Phillips Square. Bollywood actor Jimmy Sheirgill marshalled the 20-float parade that began at the square before moving down Dundas and Yonge Street, and back along Queen. Dinesh Bhatia, Consul General of India in Toronto, inaugurated the festival.
