Kolkata celebrates Holi, the festival of colours
IBNS captures scenes of spirited Holi celebrations from India's eastern city Kolkata. Holi is a spring festival celebrated with vibrancy as people smear each other with colours. It is celebrated in the month of Phalgun on full moon day in keeping with the Hindu calendar. Bengal also has a tradition of organising Holi celebrations inspired by the songs and dance of Bengali cultural icon Rabindranath Tagore. Though celebrations are muted this year owing to the scare of Corona virus, Basanta Utshab marked the festivity on venues like the campus of Rabindra Bharati University, etc. Images by Avishek Mitra/IBNS
