Ayushmann, Yami to share screen space again
Mumbai, Nov 13 (IBNS): Both Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam shot to fame with their first song together 'Paani Da Rang' from their debut film Vicky Donor and then he became the leading actor with a voice that gave goosebumps and she became the girl next door.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam created a stir with their song which was composed by Ayushmann’s college friend Rochak Kohli.
The trio is back together with their next single, a romantic track – Yahin Hoon Main which will be produced and presented by Bhushan Kumar.
Bhushan Kumar has worked with Ayushmann and Rochak during Nautanki Saala and Mitti Di Khushboo which was their last single together that also went on to become the no. 1 on iTunes.
While the song received around 4 million views in just 5 days back then it was the most downloaded song when it got released.
Joining Bhushan Kumar, Ayushmann and Rochak is their last single director Amit Roy (directed Mitti Di Khusbhoo) who was busy shooting for the track in the picturesque Chail region of Himachal Pradesh.
“It's a nostalgic song that plays out from Yami's point of view. Ayushmann's playback is beautiful. I knew I had to direct the song the moment I heard it," the director says, adding that the song will appeal to youngsters as well as elders of a certain vintage.
“I wanted to set the song against a romantic backdrop. It was a two-day schedule. We shot at a beautiful palace that was converted into a college campus and the cottages within its premises were shown as the houses the leads live in,“ reveals Amit, adding that Ayushmann and Yami share a great onscreen chemistry.
“It's surprising that they haven't been cast together even after delivering a hit like Vicky Donor when Bollywood is known to cash in on hit pairs,“ he says. The song required Ayushmann and Yami to play college kids who grow into mature individuals.
“While I think both of them can carry off any look, we had a lot of help from our stylists," the director says, adding that he believes the single trend is here to stay.
“Music albums have eight songs. But when you know that only two of them are going to work, why not put all your energy only behind those two,“ he says.
