Bollywood remembers British singer David Bowie

Mumbai, Jan 11 (IBNS) Bollywood celebrities on Monday mourned and remembered British singer-songwriter David Bowie who passed away after battling cancer for 18 months.

Actress Shruti Haasan tweeted: "RIP David Bowie thank you for the amazing music,art and inspiration."

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur said: "Goodbye #DavidBowie .. You defined a generation and left us. Always rebellious. Always redefining music. Always provocative."

Musician Ehsaan Noorani posted: "Apt quote from #Bladerunner " too bad he didn't he didn't live but then who does " RIP #DavidBowie."

Actor Ranvir Shorey remembered the singer and tweeted: "Sad to see you go, @DavidBowieReal. Style Icon. Musical genius. Legend. RIP."

'Rang De Basanti' actor Siddharth wrote on his Twitter page: "To the genius that is #davidbowie ...Thank you for being you. You gave us all so much for so long. RIP dear Starman! Sad day...an idol gone."

Legendary British singer-songwriter David Bowie died two days after his 69th birthday, the day he released his 25th album, after battling cancer for 18 months.

"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief," was mentioned on the late singer's official Facebook page.

Bowie's son Duncan Jones tweeted: "Very sorry and sad to say it's true.  I'll be offline for a while."

The creator of glam rock, "the first post-modern rock star," according to BBC music reporter Mark Savage, Bowie is known for his hit albums such as Heroes, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, the Spiders from Mars, Hunky Dory, Low, Diamond Dogs, among others.
