Canadian PM meets Bollywood celebs, appreciates Shah Rukh Khan

Mumbai, Feb 21 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday met Bollywood stars in Mumbai and even shared an image of himself with superstar Shah Rukh Khan on social media.

Apart from Khan,other B-town actors like Farhan AKhtar and Anupam Kher also attended the event.

Justin attended the event by wearing an Indian traditional attire.

Trudeau said he is looking forward to new co-production oppurtunities between  Bollywood and the Canadian Film Industry. 

" Tonight, we celebrated stronger ties & new co-production opportunities between Bollywood and the Canadian Film Industry. And who better to help than @iamsrk himself... Great to meet you! ," Trudeau tweeted appreciating SRK.

Actor Farhan Akhtar said it was an honour meet the Canadian leader.

" Was an honour & a pleasure to meet the Hon. Prime Minister of Canada, @JustinTrudeau & his lovely wife, Sophie. Sir, your leadership in the discourse for ending gender discrimination serves as constant inspiration to us all," he tweeted.

Actor Anupam Kher said: " It was such a pleasure to meet the Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau & his family. What a charming & great conversationalist he is. Talked about people, culture and of course cinema.:) #Canada #India #lndianCinema #BendItLikeBeckham #SilverLiningsPlaybook ."

R Madhavan, who is known for his performance in several Bollywood movies, posted: " @JustinTrudeau such a pleasure and honour meeting you sir. Your relatability, grace and charm was most endearing and its easy to see why you are the Pride and toast of Canada.Have a lovely rest of the tour."

Meanwhile, Trudeau will arrive in Punjab on Wednesday.

He will meet state Chief Minister Amrinder Singh.

He will also visit the Golden Temple.

Trudeau, who is on a week-long visit to the country, will stay in India till Feb 23.

He has already visited several Indian states which include Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Trudeau on Monday visited Sabarmati Ashmram in Ahmedabad and Akshardahm temple in Gandhinagar shortly after his arrival in Gujarat.

He visited the Taj Mahal with his family on Sunday.

He shared images of his visit to the Mughal creation on his social media site.

Accompanied by his family, the 46-year-old prime minister arrived in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

The Canadian Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with PM Narendra Modi on Feb 23.

Both the leaders will talk and focus on key issues like trade, defence, civil nuclear cooperation, space, tackling climate change energy and education. Trudeau's visit is expected to deepen ties between India and Canada.
