Hyderabad/IBNS: Tamil superstar Dhanush has landed in legal trouble after a production house issued a legal notice accusing him of causing prolonged delays in a film project pending since 2016, media reports said.

Thenandal Films has alleged that Dhanush failed to honour his commitment to work on a film under its banner despite earlier agreements and assurances.

According to the notice, Dhanush was initially signed for a project titled Naan Rudran in 2016 but later opted out. The production house claimed that the actor subsequently promised to act in and direct another film for the same banner as compensation.

Based on that assurance, Thenandal Films said it invested approximately Rs. 20 crore in advance payments and pre-production work, including remuneration for actors Nagarjuna and SJ Suryah, who were expected to be part of the project.

However, the production house alleged that Dhanush neither completed the script nor proceeded with the film, and instead moved on to other projects without fulfilling his commitment.

The makers have sought clarity on whether Dhanush intends to complete the project.

The notice has asked him to respond within a week, failing which legal action may be initiated besides a demand for an additional Rs. 1 crore as compensation.

On the work front, Dhanush was last seen in Hindi film Tere Ishk Mein, co-starring Kriti Sanon in the lead.
