Dua Lipa granted Albanian citizenship

Los Angeles: Internationally popular singer Dua Lipa has been granted citizenship by Albania.

Albanian President Bajram Begaj tweeted: " Happy to give the one and only @DUALIPA the decree of Albanian citizenship. She has made us proud with her global career and engagement in important social causes."

Dua Lipa was born in London, the eldest child of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa (née Rexha) and Dukagjin Lipa from Pristina, FR Yugoslavia (present-day Kosovo). 

Lipa thanked the President for granting her citizenship.

She wrote on Instagram: " Thank you President Bajram Begaj and Mayor @erionveliaj for this honour ~ got my Albanian citizenship!! ~ faleminderit, po ndihem shume krenare."

She shared several videos and images of the event where she was granted citizenship.
