Kolkata, Jun 23 (UNI): A post from an actor's unverified Twitter account started rumours of Victor Banerjee's death while the veteran actor is very much alive.

A post appearing to have come from Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta suggested the 72-year-old actor's demise. Sengupta, however, has denied the claim stating that it was a fake account.

Banerjee's daughter Keya Banerjee scotched rumours of his death. Taking to her Twitter handle she said her father was fine and busy shooting.

The renowned actor has appeared in English, Hindi, Bengali and Assamese language films. He has worked for directors including Roman Polanski, James Ivory, Sir David Lean (A Passage to India), Jerry London, Ronald Neame, Satyajit Ray(Ghare Baire), Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, Montazur Rahman Akbar and Ram Gopal Varma.
