Happy to see Prosenjit's progress as actor over years : Soumitra

Kolkata, Apr 21 (IBNS) Thespian Soumitra Chatterjee is happy that Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, whom he had cradled in lap as a baby, has evolved over the years as an actor.

"Now I am working with Bumba (Prosenjit's nickname) in several projects. In fact have been working with him in several projects in past couple of years. I have seen how he grew during all these times. His shots in Praktan again proves how much he has matured as an actor," Soumitra told IBNS at the trailer launch of the film here.

Talking about Prosenjit as producer, the 'Apur Sansar' actor said, "It is interesting to work in the production of someone whom I used to take in my lap when he was a baby. I am working in 'Bhalobasar Manush', his own film production for a Bengali channel and the directorial venture of Prabhat Roy\. He has an uncanny grasp on film-related matters."

About Praktan, which reunited Prosenjit and Rituparna, 15 years after offering Bengali film audiences a string of hits, Soumitra said, "It is a sensitive portrayal of human relationships and Ritu and Bumba both delivered intense performances."

"It is my back-to-back film with Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy after Belaseshe and even after doing 300 films I must confirm I think their brand of cinema is different,," Soumitra signed off.

Prosenjit Chatterjee said about Soumitra, "It's always a privilege to share frame with a personality like Soumitra-kaku (uncle). He is like my father. Beside him we are nowhere as actors."

Actress Rituparna said:  "Soumitra-kaku had been my father in Belaseshe and I really consider him as a father figure. You learn so many things when you work side by side with such a personality. I wish him to be around to guide us."
