Hero Cycles Bengal Tigers prepares to take on Karnataka Bulldozers
The entire team practiced on Thursday at Ashok Malhotra Cricket Academy under the watchful eyes of coach Sushil Sikaria and the players looked to be in good nick.
“The team is playing well. The last match we batted very well. We just need to improve our fielding and fitness,” Sikaria said.
“We are a much better team than last three years. We have practiced over one and half moths. People have praised us in our first match. There are a lot of new players and we hope to do well. Our bowlers need to pull up their socks which Im sure they will do from next match. We have also sought permission for two new players, if they are allowed then it will be a much better balanced side,” Jisshu, Captain of Hero Cycles Bengal Tigers, said in between smacking the leather at the nets.
“We are playing well. Other teams have proper players. We have hardcore actors. They are very dedicated and that matters. We hope to do really well,” superstar Dev said after 2 hours of proper net session.
Asked how he manages so much, his spontaneous reply was: “Age! Just because of my age I can manage so much. I act for a living, and as a politician people’s welfare is at the top of mind; but for now its cricket. I love the game and think of myself as a team man. If my presence inspires the team there would be nothing better than that. I am doing it for Jisshu, Boney Kpoor and Rajesh Shah.”
Dev also sounded very positive about his forthcoming release Herogiri: “Herogiri is releasing next week. It’s a family entertainer. Next I am doing Aparna Sen’s film based on Romeo and Juliet, but I can’t reveal anything more at this stage.”
“We are a much better team. Our batting is very good. If our middle and lower order bats well we will go far in the tournament. The bowlers just need to do the basics and keep to their line and length,” Indrashis Roy said.
Talking about his movies Indrashis added, “Lodai has just released. Then there is 100 days. But for the next two weeks cricket is on the top of mind.”
Vice-Captain Joy was more analytical: “We gave 27 extras in our last game. This means 27 extra deliveries also and more runs. We also missed two catches. We also felt that we were a spinner short. But hopefully next match on things will change.”
The team leaves for Bangalore on Jan 17.
