I hope Kaabil has broken the stereotyped cinematic blindness: Hrithik Roshan

Speaking about the usual portrayal of blindness in films, the actor added and said: “Blind people are not exactly how they are shown onscreen.”

Kaabil is a Sanjay Gupta directed film in which lead actors Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam played the characters of blind people.

Hrithik’s co-star Yami Gautam too was present at the event.

Speaking on his movie, Hrithik said: “With Kaabil, we had been able to spread the awareness about blindness through the characters we (Hrithik and Yami) played.”

“I have planned to campaign further for spreading awareness not only about blind people but also disabled ones” he added.

Rakesh Roshan produced film Kaabil revolves around the love story of two visually impaired people and finally culminates into an avenging story.

Hrithik who is seen as a voice over artist in the film, said: “I did a lot of research in voice over. During my research, I read that our vocal cords are muscles and if one can have control over them then he can sound similar to any other person. So I had to practice and rehearse and maximum voices are dubbed by me.”

Yami, who shared the screen with Hrithik for the first time recounted her experience and said: “It has been inspiring not only as an actor or a co-star but at every level. I have been his fan for his acting, stardom but after working with him, I emerged as a fan for the kind of human being he is.”

While speaking about the preparations for this film, the Vicky Donor actress said: “We (Yami and Hrithik) had to be familiar with the world of blind people but honestly when we understood the characters and the darkness of visually impaired people in true sense, we realised the importance of being ourselves than like others.”

Kaabil has hit the big screens on Jan 25.

The Box Office witnessed a major war as Shah Rukh Khan's Raees also hit the Indian theathre on the same day.
