Indian short film ‘Aaba’ selected to be premiered at the prestigious 67th Berlin International Film Festival

Mumbai, Jan 14 (IBNS): A great film is always dependent on the vision of the director, but if the right minds are keen to support that very vision, that is a true endorsement for any art form. One such great piece of celluloid is ‘Aaba’.

The film is the brainchild of Director Amar Kaushik, who has gone full circle in life before penning down this moving tale about a man on the edge of his death bed.

The characters and story were so compelling, that Raj Kumar Gupta and Onir, two ace filmmakers known for creating content-driven cinema, along with film enthusiast Mitul Dikshit.decided to produce this masterpiece.

The confidence that both Raj, Onir and Mitul had in ‘Aaba’ is clearly well founded as it is all set to take world cinema by a storm as it gets selected to be premiered at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, which is amongst the most prestigious film festivals in the world. The film will be premiered in the Generation Kplus competition on February 11, 2017.

The story also draws a lot of emotion & realism from the fact that a purely unadulterated mind has penned the story - none other than  AmarKaushik’s mother, Shashi Kaushik. The film is shot in the picturesque valley of Arunachal Pradesh. The story revolves around an orphan girl who comes across the news of her grandfather reaching the terminal stages of lung cancer. As the grandfather (Aaba) starts counting his days, the family faces unexpected turns.

Expressing happiness about the selection, Amar Kaushik said, “This is truly a memorable moment for the Aaba team. I am thankful to my mentors Raj Kumar Gupta and Onir and my friend MitulDikhshit for showing their confidence in me, and the entire team for their support on this project. The beautiful Arunchal Pradesh made the entire film making process all the way more precious for us. Berniale is an esteemed film event and having Aaba premiere at the event is an absolute honour. We are looking forward to attending the event and representing India on the platform.”

Aaba has been written & directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Raj Kumar Gupta and MitulDikshit, co-produced by Onir and Alison Welly.
