Kolkata/IBNS: Filmmaker duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, who deal with films on human emotions and societal issues, often explore themes such as family dynamics, relationships and societal norms.

Here is the list of five social drama films directed by the director duo under Windows Productions:

Belaseshe

This family drama deeply resonated with audiences upon its release. The film witnessed the reunion of veteran actors Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta after 31 years on screen.

The film captures the emotional upheavals and conflicts within a family as they come to terms with their parents' decisions. The film was not only a significant success but also gained nationwide fame.

Belashuru

Released in 2019, Belashuru, a sequel to Belaseshe, continues to explore familial relationships and societal norms, focusing on love and marriage in the context of middle-aged protagonists.

Starring Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta reprising their roles, the film received immense praise for its realistic portrayal of human emotions and its ability to resonate across generations.

Icche

This film marks the directorial debut of Shibaprasad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy. Initially rejected by audiences, the film eventually won hearts with its profound content and enjoyed a successful theatrical run of 125 days.

The film revolved around the story of an overbearing and possessive mother who finds it difficult to accept that her son has grown up and has a personal life of his own,  creating a rift between them.

Ramdhanu

Released in 2014, this film received positive reviews for its heartwarming content. Based on the Right to Education Act, it highlights the challenges faced when there are no interviews for parents and children during school enrollment, aiming for inclusivity but facing consequences over time.

Shastry Virudh Shastry

This film deeply portrays parenthood as an emotion everyone wishes to embrace. However, in today's world, the pursuit of dreams has often relegated parenting to a secondary role.

A remake of Shibaprasad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s 2017 film Posto, it features an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Shiv Panditt, and Mimi Chakraborty in lead roles.
