Padman Akshay Kumar wishes women on Menstrual Hygiene Day

Mumbai, May 28 (IBNS): Actor Akshay Kumar, who had made a mark with his movie Padman, on Tuesday wished women of the country on the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day.

Menstrual Hygiene Day (MHD, MH Day in short) is an annual awareness day on May 28 to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management (MHM).

It was initiated by the German-based NGO WASH United in 2014 and aims to benefit women and girls worldwide.   

"Happy #MenstrualHygieneDay to all the Girls, Mothers and Sisters. Lets all help every girl child feel Hygienic, Safe & Confident every day of the month #Period," Kumar tweeted.

R Balki directorial film 'Padman' is a story of Tamil Nadu-based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who created a low-cost sanitary napkins machine.

Akshay Kumar has played the lead role in the film.

The movie also featured actors Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor.
