Los Angeles/IBNS: The biggest night in Hollywood finally arrived making for a memorable Monday at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards, held in LA.

It was one to remember for NBCUniversal as their rape-revenge satire ‘Promising Young Woman’ took home the award for Best Original Screenplay.

Emerald Fennell, director and writer of the movie, accepted the award and thanked leading actor Carey Mulligan, calling her, "Not only the most talented person in the world, but also the kindest and funniest.”

She jokingly apologised to Oscars producer Steven Soderbergh for not having written a speech and further adding the only accepting speech she ever wrote was when she was 10. Fennell was considered a strong favourite for the award, having already won the Bafta and Writers Guild award for Best Original Screenplay.

The other nominees for Best Original Screenplay included Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Sound of Metal, and The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Furthermore, the other big winners of the night saw Nomadland win the Big Picture, Anthony Hopkins claim the  Best Actor for his role in The Father, Frances McDormand win the  Best Actress award for her role in Nomadland, Chloé Zhao win the Best Director for Nomadland, Yuh-Jung Youn bag the Best Supporting Actress for Minari along with Daniel Kaluuya winning Best Supporting Actor for Judas and the Black Messiah.
