Kolkata, Nov 11 (IBNS): A week after creating a nationwide buzz with the launch of the biggest film poster for a Bengali film, SVF,a movie production house, on Saturay launched the ‘Graphic Novel’ of its upcoming Christmas release – Amazon Obhijaan, the sequel to Chander Pahar.

This is a first-of-its-kind initiative by any movie production house aimed at reaching out to audience across India where the entire story board of the film is being revealed in the form of a Graphic Novel even before the release of the movie.

The Amazon Obhijaan Graphic Novel, published by Bee Books is available in two languages - English and Bengali. While the paperback edition of the novel is available on Flipkart and Amazon, the digital version of the novel will be available on Kindle, Juggernaut and Dailyhunt.

Mahendra Soni, Co-Founder & Director – SVF, said, “Since we have taken the protagonist out of the first film in the franchise, Chander Pahar, we wanted to implement it well. Thus we came up with the idea of a graphic novel of Amazon Obhijaan with the entire storyboarding of the film. The novel is released digitally and across all major bookstores for our audience to get a hang of what they can expect in the film.  The launch of the Graphic Novel is an important step in that direction and we are confident that everyone will love this comic book version of the movie, which they will relive on the big screen on 22nd December.”

At a book reading session organized in association with CRY (Child Rights & You), about 100 children not only got an opportunity to meet their beloved star Dev but received a copy of the novel signed by Dev and film director Kamaleswar Mukherjee.

Commenting on the association Atindra Nath Das, Director (Eastern Region), CRY – Child Rights and You said, “We are delighted to be part of this amazing initiative by SVF. As an organisation, CRY has always believed in giving underprivileged children a platform to dream, and dream big. What we love the most as an organization working with children, is the fact that SVF has actually used their platform to reach out to so many people and help us create a happy childhood for the children we work with. Ahead of Children’s Day, there could not have been a better gift for the children.”

Kamaleswar Mukherjee said, ‘As an ardent admirer of Bibhutibhusan Bandopadhyay, 'Amazon Obhijaan' Graphic Novel is my homage to the illustrious author, who gave birth to a Shankar in me. Following, the footsteps of the genius I have humbly plunged into taking up an exigent task of carrying the genre forward with the best of my efforts and worst of my limitations, as a writer.”

Priced at Rs.100 (Bengali) & Rs.150 (English), the Amazon Obhijaan - Graphic Novel will be distributed across India and will be available at Oxford Book Stores (Kolkata, Mumbai & Delhi), Full Circle Book Store (Delhi), Wayword Wise (Mumbai), Bookworm (Bangalore) and Starmark (Chennai) to start with.
