Kolkata/IBNS: Celebrated filmmaker Srijit Mukherji has announced his latest project, Emperor vs Sarat Chandra, a powerful cinematic interpretation commemorating the centenary of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s iconic novel Pather Dabi.

Presented by Pradip Kumar Nandy under the banner of Nandy Movies, the film delves into themes of ideology, resistance and the timeless clash between state power and the written word.

The cast features Tota Roy Choudhury, Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty, promising a gripping narrative and strong performances. The film also marks a creative milestone, with Srijit Mukherji composing the music for the first time in his career.

Director’s Note

“Emperor vs Sarat Chandra for me is the classic story of the pen as the underdog and the sword as the oppressor. It reflects the turbulent times of the freedom struggle against the British, both in reality and fiction,” said filmmaker Srijit Mukherji.

Producer’s Note

“At Nandy Movies, we believe in stories that challenge, provoke and inspire. Emperor vs Sarat Chandra is a tribute to a century-old voice that still resonates. It is our honour to bring this vision to the screen with a brilliant director, a powerful cast and a team committed to preserving the essence of Sarat Chandra’s legacy,” said producer Pradip Kumar Nandy.
