Islamabad, Dec 27 (IBNS): Ahead of next year's World Cup, Pakistan received a huge blow as their star spinner Saeed Ajmal will not participate in the mega cricketing event, reports said.

PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan told BBC that the spinner will announce his decision during a press conference to be held int he next few days.

The spinner will not participate in the event as he failed to completely correct his bowling action, reports said.

In a press statement, the PCB on Saturday said a meeting was held in Lahore at the Gaddafi Stadium between Chairman PCB Shaharyar Khan, Chairman Executive Committee Najam Sethi , COO PCB  Subhan Ahmad, Chief Selector Moin Khan, Mohammad Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq and Saeed Ajmal.

"The group discussed the future course of action to be adopted with regard to Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez and agreed that in the case of Saeed, further remedial work should continue in collaboration with Saqlain and a bio mechanist in Lahore. The group was informed that significant progress had been made by Ajmal who is now working on completing his ‘mileage’ with the remodelled action which shall soon be accomplished. The PCB fully supports Ajmal in his attempt to regularize his action and to return to cricket as Pakistan’s top performer in the future," said the statement.

"It was noted that Saqlain and Mushtaq Ahmed have both worked with Hafeez and his action should now be tested in an ICC accredited lab. Therefore Hafeez is being sent to Chennai next week for an unofficial testing of his bowling action," it said.
