Argentina beat France to lift World Cup

Doha: Argentina defeated France in the high-octane final of the World Cup, which was decided by penalty shootout, to lift the title on Sunday.

Argentina defeated its tough competitor by 4-2 margin in penalty shootout.

Lionel Messi got a proper farewell to his international career by winning the title which he missed in 2014.

Argentina last won the World Cup in 1986.

Lionel Messi's Argentina had reached the final in 2014 but could not win it.

After the match was tied at 2-2 in normal regulation time, the game once again remained 3-3 in the extra-time.

France had won the title in 2018.
