Ashwin-Saha partnership steadies ship after dual strike

Rajkot, Nov 12 (IBNS): Resuming their innings on an overnight score of 319 runs for the loss of four wickets, the English bowlers put the hosts under pressure by picking up a couple of wickets but a 50-run partnership between Ravi Ashwin and Wriddhiman bailed them out, here on day four of the first Test match between India and England.

Zafar Ansari castled Ajinkya Rahane's (13) stumps against the run of play and Virat Kohli registered a more unusual way of getting out, hit wicket, while on 40, leaving the host reeling at 361 for six.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha shook off a nervy start to hit some crisps boundaries and forge a 50 run stand to narrow the deficit to under 130 runs.

Both the batsmen are batting on 29 runs.

At lunch, India are on 411 runs for the loss of six wickets.

They have added 92 runs for the loss of two wickets in the morning session of play on Saturday.

Adil rashid, who had accounted for Murali Vijay's wicket, late on day three to give England some hope, also got rid of Kohli.

Virat became only the second Indian captain after Lala Amarnath to be dismissed hit wicket.
