Australia demolish England in Ashes, win by 4-0

Sydney, Jan 8 (IBNS): Australia demolished England in the Ashes by 4-0 as the Aussies went on to win the fifth encounter by an innings and 123 runs on Monday.

Following on in the second innings, England was bowled out by Australia to 346 falling short of Australia's mammoth first innings total of 649.

Though number of English batsmen got starts in the second innings, failed to convert into big ones.

England captain Joe Root remained the top scorer in the second innings with his 83 runs. Dawid Malan scored 62.

Despite a few 30s from the lower order batting, England failed to save the match.

Australia's fast bowler Pat Cummins picked up eight wickets in the match, four in each innings.

England could only manage to draw the fourth Test match in the Ashes 2017-2018.
