Melbourne, Jan 29 (IBNS) Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis did the inevitable by winning the Australian Open Women's Doubles title here on Friday.

Mirza and Hingis posted a scoreline of 7(7)-6(1), 6-3 against the Czech pair of A. Hlavackova and  L. Hradecka.

Hradecka and Hlavackova pushed the opening set to the brim, and was leading at a point until the top seeded pair equaled the scores and clinched the first set.

The second set was won with much ease, with both Sania and Martina going for the kill.

This also also their 3rd Grand Slam win on the trot.

Receiving the silverware, Martina thanked Sania for her contribution.

Sania thanked her family and fans for their continued support and said that she plans to win some more with her partner.
