Ahmedabad/IBNS: The Indian cricket board has approved a 10-team Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament from 2022, media reports said.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has ratified the entry of two teams during the Annual General Meeting held in Ahmedabad.

As of now, the IPL, a cash-rich T20 tournament, is participated by eight teams.

Besides IPL, the BCCI has also agreed to back the International Cricket Council (ICC)'s bid to include cricket in the 2028 Olympics, which will be held in the Los Angeles.

The ICC wants T20, the shortest format of the sport, to include in the Olympics.
