Mumbai, Aug 16 (IBNS): The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will pick the head coach of Indian cricket team on Friday.

The CAC comprising Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy have already started interviewing the shortlisted candidates at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters here.

Several names which are coming up are former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson, former Windies all-rounder Phil Simmons, Tom Moody, Robin Singh, Lalchand Rajput.

However, outgoing coach Ravi Shastri is likely to be retained as the CAC is not reportedly keen to appoint a foreigner coach. Also Shastri has the backing of Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

Apart from the top job, the batting, bowling and fielding coaches will also be picked by the CAC.

Last time, the CAC comprising former cricketers Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman had picked Shastri as the coach at a very last moment.

The announcement will be made by the CAC at 7 pm.
