David Richardson attends inauguration of Oman Cricket Academy

Dubai, Nov 7 (IBNS): ICC Chief Executive David Richardson attended the launch of the Oman Cricket Academy in Muscat

The ICC Chief Executive David Richardson earlier this week attended the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Oman Cricket Academy in Muscat. The inauguration was part of Oman’s 48th National Day celebrations and coincides with the ICC World cricket League Division 3 which Oman will host from 9-19 November.

“The ICC’s vision for cricket is a ‘sport enjoyed by the world’. You may say that all sports have the power to do that and you may be right, but cricket by its very nature is uniquely placed to deliver this,” Richardson told a large gathering that also included Minister of Heritage and Culture, His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

“Cricket is a game for all, young and old, male or female, whatever culture or religion you maybe, rich or poor. In its simplest form, it can be played anywhere, anytime and by anyone.”

Richardson also praised the facility. “This world-class facility will no doubt unite, inspire and empower the cricket community in Oman to bigger and better things.”

The new facility houses the offices of Oman Cricket, two outdoor grounds which comprises net cages and bowling machines, and an indoor facility which features two fast pitches, two spin pitches, and three normal pitches for bowlers and batters to perfect their technique.
