Delhi: Para-Athletes complain of mismanagement in stadium

| | Dec 30, 2015, at 04:49 pm
New Delhi, Dec 30 (IBNS) Two para-athletes, Pradeep and Suvarna Raj on Tuesday complained about the harassment they had to face while entering New Delhi's Indira Gandhi Stadium as they alleged that no specific arrangements for the disabled were made, according to reports

The athletes were trying to get into the stadium to watch the final of the Pro Wrestling League on Sunday and expressed their disbelief at the negligence towards them.

Pradeep was quoted by NDTV as saying, "Even though we have VIP passes and VIP car stickers, our car was not allowed to park in the VIP parking. They didn't allow us to enter, saying the seats were full."

Pradeep also alleged that the organisers told him to go home and watch the match on t.v. as they felt it was 'risky' for him.

Suvarna blamed the Sports Authority of India (SAI). She said, "The biggest fault is that of SAI. They should have realised that if the stadium is not disabled-friendly they shouldn't have given us the passes."
