Duminy destroys Indian bowlers, South Africa beat MS Dhoni's men to take 1-0 lead

Dharmasala, Oct 2 (IBNS): Rohit Sharma's century went in vain as JP Duminy smashed a magnificent knock of 68 runs off 34 balls to beat India by seven wickets in the first T20 match here on Friday.

Posting 199 for five in 20 overs,India had posted a competitive score on the board but Duminy's heroic helped the African side reach 200 runs by losing three wickets with balls to spare.

AB de Villiers (51) and Hasim Amla (36) commenced the run chase quite strongly as they joined to post 77 runs in the opening stand.

in his 32-ball knock, AB de Villiers hammered seven boundaries and a six.

R Ashwin dismissed AB in a crucial junction of the match to bring India back in the match.

Sreenath Aravind , who made his debut with the match, picked up the wicket of Faf du Plessis to give India more chances in the match.

Duminy however, changed the fortune of the game as he played a heroic knock of where he smashed six huge sixes to destroy the Indian bowlers.

Spinner Axar Patel  faced the destruction at the hands of Duminy who hit him for three sixes in the 16th over.

Patel gave away for 22 runs in the over.

Smashing a six in the last over off Aravind, Duminy ensured the first victory in the series to take a 1-0 lead.

Earlier, Sharma hit 12 boundaries and five sixes as he scored 106 off 66 balls.
