Former BCCI General Manager MV Sridhar dies at 51

Mumbai, Oct 30 (IBNS): Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) General Manager MV Sridhar died due to heart attack on Monday.

Sridhar was 51.

After suffering a massive heart attack at his Hyderabad residence, he was immediately taken to a hospital but soon died.

He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

He joined the BCCI in 2013 as General Manager and played an instrumental role in Cricket Operations. He served as the Hony. Secretary and Vice President of Hyderabad Cricket Association and represented HCA on the Board.

Dr Sridhar twice served as a manager with the Indian Cricket Team and was recently asked to supervise the Indian team during the tour to West Indies, read the BCCI statement.

He led the Hyderabad Ranji team with great distinction during his playing days. He scored 6701 runs in 97 First-class games and also recorded an individual highest score of 366 for Hyderabad.

Several personalities from the cricketing field have condoled Sridhar's demise.

Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman tweeted:"Deeply Shocked to hear about the passing away of Dr MV Sridhar , an elder brother to me who taught me the art of batting long."

Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle too was surprised to hear the news of the sudden death of Sridhar. "I am deeply distressed to hear of the passing of Doc MV Sridhar. Bade bhai, life mein to abhi bhot runan banaana that aapku....."

Former Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman, Ranjiv Biswal condoled on Twitter and said:"Deeply distressed by the passing away of Dr.MV SRIDHAR, Former Cricketer and Administrator,BCCI. Pray his soul Rest In Peace."
