Fourth Test : England score 53 for 3 at stumps, trail India by 138 runs

London/UNI: England were 53 for three at stumps, trailing India by 138 runs on day one of the fourth Test, here on Thursday.

After bowling out on India on a low total, Rory Burns and Haseeb Hammed couldn't stick around for long, with Jasprit Bumrah dismissing both England openers in the same over.

Joe Root and Dawid Malan then added 46 runs before Umesh Yadav picked up the big wicket of the England captain.

Earlier, India were all out for 191 in their first innings with Chris Woakes taking four wickets and Ollie Robinson grabbing three.

For India, Virat Kohli ( 50 off 96 balls) and Shardul Thakur (57 off 36 balls) were the top-scorers.

Brief scores: India 191 all out in 61.3 overs (Virat Kohli 50, Shardul Thakur 57; James Anderson 1/41, Ollie Robinson 3/38, Chris Woakes 4/55, Craig Overton 1/49).

England 53/3 in 17 overs (Joe Root 21, Dawid Malan batting 26; Jasprit Bumrah 2/15).
