New Delhi, July 18 (IBNS) The Supreme Court on Friday released Indian cricket icon Sunil Gavaskar from his role as the interim BCCI president for matters related to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"A Bench of Justices T.S. Thakur and Ibrahim Kalifulla passed this order on a letter received from Mr. Gavaskar seeking clarification whether he should continue as interim President of the BCCI till the main matter was heard in September after the submission of the enquiry report," The Hindu reported.

Shivlal Yadav will continue as BCCI interim president.

The Supreme Court in March had installed Sunil Gavaskar as the interim chief of the BCCI replacing controversial industrialist-cricket administrator N Srinivasan for the Indian Premier League (IPL) seventh edition affairs.
