German striker Lukas Podolski retires from international football

Berlin,Aug 15 (IBNS): German footballer Lukas Podolski has retired from international football.

He had played an important role in Germany's 2014 World Cup victory.

In his 129  caps career, he had scored 48 goals for the national team.

He had played for Germany in the recently concluded Euo Cup.

His last appearance for the national side was the match against    Slovakia int he tournament.

His official Twitter page read: "Thank you fans! 12 years, 129 matches. It was amazing! It was great! It was an honour to be part of ."
