Hamstring injury to keep Bhuvi out for 2-3 games

Manchester, Jun 17 (UNI): India speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar will skip next two or three World Cup matches due to a hamstring injury he developed while bowling against Pakistan on Sunday which India won by 89 runs under D/L method.

Bhuvi, after bowling just 2.4 overs was seen leaving the field due to tightness in his left hamstring, and the remaining two balls were bowled by Vijay Shankar who was playing his first World Cup. Shankar took his first wicket in the very first ball getting Imam-ul-Haq LBW at 7.

India skipper Kohli confirmed the injury took place after Bhuvneshwar stretched his hamstring off a foot mark during on the followthrough. Described the injury as a 'niggle', Kohli said Bhuvneshwar would not be available for selection for the matches against Afghanistan on June 22, West Indies June 27 and possibly also stay out against England on June 30, Kohli said.

Earlier, Opener Shikhar Dhawan was also ruled out of the game for 10-12 days following fracture in his left thumb, however the team management is yet to decide on his fate.

Kohli said he was confident of recovery soon and the team was not worried because there was a ready replacement in Mohammad Shami.
