India aim to salvage repute against South Africa in Jo'burg

Johannesburg, Jan 24 (IBNS): After losing the first two matches and the series, India will look to salvage the lost pride on the ongoing competition against South Africa in Johannesburg Test, beginning on Wednesday.

India were demolished by 72 and 135 runs in the first two matches respectively against South Africa.

Though the Indian bowlers put up a splendid performance in both the Tests, it was the batting unit that led to the downfall of the no.1 Test team.

Hardik Pandya's 93 and Virat Kohli's 153 in the two Tests were the only innings that Indian supporters could cherish upon.

Questions were also raised on Kohli's team selection as the Indian skipper kept Ajinkya Rahane and Bhuvneshwar Kumar out of the team in the second Test.

While Bhuvneshwar bowled brilliantly in the first Test against the hosts, Rahane has an impressive overseas record under his belt.

With the series loss, India failed to win their maiden Test series in 25 years.

South Africa lead the three-match Test series 2-0.
