Perth, Nov 8 (IBNS) India stunned Australia 1-0 to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match hockey series on Saturday.

Following two goalless quarters, it was in the 34th minute when SV Sunil did not make any mistake of netting the ball from a  beautiful pass from Akashdeep Singh and helping India take 1-0 lead in the match.

Australians tried to attack and level the scoreline in the fourth quarter but Indian defenders tackled the challenge well and prevented the opponents from returning into the match.

With Indian leading 1-0 and Australia unable to draw the leveler, the Asian side won the match and took a 2-1 lead in the series.

India will next take on Australia in the fourth match of the series on Sunday.

In this contest, Indian player Rupinder Pal Singh added a feather to his cap as he played the 100th International match of his career.
