India congratulates Saina Nehwal

Mumbai, June 12 (IBNS): Indians celebrated badminton star Saina Nehwal's Australian Open Super Series Badminton title win as celebrities and politicians wished her for the victory on Sunday.

"Congratulations to Saina Nehwal @NSaina for winning the Australian Open. As always, you have made the country proud," Union Minister VK Singh tweeted.

Another Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore posted: "Congrats @NSaina on clinching Australian Open Super Series title.You have made us proud all over again. Prime yourself for Rio @Rio2016_en."

Mahasrashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said: "Congratulations @NSaina for making India proud by winning the #AustralianOpen the 2nd time ! #AustraliaOpen2016."

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad congratulated the player and tweeted: "Congratulations to Saina Nehwal for her victory in Australian Open 2016. U have done India proud @NSaina."

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said: "Well done @NSaina for winning the Australian Open Badminton. Keep winning. Keep making India proud."

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan wished her by saying: "@NSaina awesome girl. Keep on shining and making our country so proud."

Former Indian cricket captain Anil Kumble tweeted: "Congrats @NSaina on your Australian open win. Proud of your achievement!"

Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar posted: "A moment of pride for the entire nation as @nsaina wins the Australian Open for the second time. Good luck for Rio! "

Cricketer Yuvraj Singh said: "Congratulations to @NSaina for winning the Australian open you make us proud."

Ex-cricketer VVS Laxman posted: "Congrats @NSaina on winning the #australianopen Amazing display of physical & mental strengthYou keep making us proud."

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan congratulated the Olympic medal winner and said: "@NSaina .. you continue to make us proud to be an Indian .. well done ..Champion at Australian Open ..!!"

Nehwal defeated Sun Yu of China  to clinch the Australian Open Super Series Badminton title on Sunday.

Saina defeated her opponent by 11-21, 21-14, 21-19.

The Chinese girl made a positive start by beating Saina in the first round.
