India Will Play Champions Trophy, Announce Squad Immediately: Committee Of Administrators To BCCI

| | May 04, 2017, at 09:46 pm
New Delhi, May 4 (IBNS) : The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA)on Thursday directed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to announce the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy immediately, NDTV reported.

The CoA asked BCCI's Amitabh Choudhary why the squad had not even been selected yet despite April 25 being the deadline.

Choudhary was also asked to convene meeting of selection committee for pick the squad without any further delay. The CoA's directive makes it amply clear that the Indian cricket team will not pull out of the high-profile tournament.

The CoA on Tuesday clarified to the Indian board that its officials were not mandated to take any decision on India's participation in the ICC Champions Trophy, beginning on June 1.

This comes at a time when rumours are doing rounds that the BCCI office-bearers were contemplating boycotting the tournament after being outvoted on the ICC's revenue and administrations models, as the Indian board's revenue quantum was reduced by almost half.
