IPL auction: Kings XI Punjab bags Mohit Sharma for 6.5 crore

Mumbai, Feb 6 (IBNS): Right-arm medium-fast bowler Mohit Sharma was bought by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 6.5 crore in the ongoing IPL Auction for the 2016 edition, while so far Aussie all rounder Shane Watson was the highest bidded player at Rs 9.5 crore.

Mohit Sharma had a base price of Rs 1.50 cr and.  

Earlier, the IPL auction got underway on Saturday with players like Yuvraj Singh sold for Rs. 7 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad and Australian all rounder Shane Watson bagging Rs 9.5 crore.

Watson was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for a staggering Rs 9.5 crore. He had a base price of Rs 2 crore.

 Ishant Sharma and Kevin Pietersen also were among those receiving big bids. Rising Pune Supergiants bought Kevin Pietersen for Rs. 3.5 crores.  Mitchell Marsh was bought for Rs 4.8 crore by Pune Supergiants.
 
Dinesh Karthik  with a base price of Rs 2 crore was sold for Rs 2.30 crore to Gujarat Lions.

Pacer Ishant Sharma was sold for Rs 3.8 crore to Pune Supergiants.

Praveen Kumar was sold for Rs 3.5 crore to The Gujarat Lions. Chris Morris was bought for Rs 7 crore by Delhi Daredevils. Ashish Nehra fetched Rs 5.5 crore from Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

On the list are 230 Indian players and 121 overseas players for the franchises to choose from.

There are eight marquee players, including two Indians. The 2016 Player Auction is also the first for the two new IPL teams, Rising Pune Supergiants and The Gujarat Lions. The two new franchises - Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions - have replaced Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the bidding.
