Mohali, Apr 19 (IBNS): Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Kings XI Punjab by six wickets in an IPL group stage encounter here on Tuesday.
Restricting Kings at 138 for eight in their 20 overs, KKR reached the target of 141 runs  by losing four wickets with 17 balls to spare.

Robin Uthappa (53) and Gautam Gambhir (34) gave KKR a flying start at the top as they added 82 runs in the first wicket stand.

Uthappa hammered nine boundaries in his 28-ball knock.

Pardeep Sahu of Kings got rid off both the openers to give KKR two quick blows.

Axar Patel joined the party and took the wickets of Manish Pandey  (12) and Bangladeshi all-rounder  Shakib Al Hasan (11) to make things a bit tensed for the visitors.

But KKR batsmen- Suryakumar Yadav (11*) and Yusuf Pathan (12*)-  did not falter and reached the target easily at the end.

Earlier, riding on Shaun Marsh unbeaten 56, Kings had posted 138 runs on the scorecard.

KKR bowlers bowled tight to restrict Kings below 150 runs mark.

Morne Morkel and Sunil Narine took two wickets for KKR.
