Colombo, Aug 6 (IBNS): Ravindra Jadeja's magical spell, where he picked up five wickets, helped India beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs to clinch the second Test and the series here on Sunday.

It was Jadeja's spin magic on the fourth day that spelled a magic to the match for India.

This victory ensured India their eighth consecutive Test series win.

Dimuth Karunaratne (141) and Kusal Mendis (110) showed some resistance but they were short in creating the magic needed as the homeside were bundled up for 386 runs in the second innings.

Jadeja's  5/152 in 39 overs figure remained the pick of the day.

Hardik Pandya and R Ashwin picked up two wickets each.

Umesha Yadav settled for a wicket in the innings.

Angelo Mathews contributed just 36 runs with his willow.

Sri Lanka were made to follow on after being bowled out for 183 runs in the first innings.

India had posted massive 66 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their first innings.
