Jaibir hits the front at Delhi NCR Cup

New Delhi, Apr 7 (IBNS): Jaibir Singh shot an even par 72 to jump into the lead at the end of the penultimate round of the 11th edition of the Delhi NCR Cup being played at the Delhi Golf Club here on Thursday.

The Bangalore lad was two shots ahead of his statemates Yashas Chandra and IL Aalaap with a 54-hole total of 3-over 219.

Shubham Narain was fourth at 222 while Amir Khan was fifth at 224. Overnight leader Vinay Kumar Yadav shot a forgettable 8-over par to slip to the tied-sixth position along with Tapendra Ghai. Yuvraj Sandhu and Shiv Naren Srinivasan were tied for the eighth position.

Jaibir had an eventful front nine where he began with a birdie on the par-5 opener. However two bogeys one each on the third and sixth was followed by a birdie on the par-5 eighth to be even par. With a bogey on the finishing hole of his front nine, Jaivir took the turn at 1-over. The return journey saw the bearded golfer play a steady game making eight pars and a birdie on the par-5 14th to turn in a level par card for the day.
