Jannik Sinner beats Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in five-set thriller to clinch Australian Open

Italian Tenni star Jannik Sinner on Sunday displayed his power and grit to beat Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in a five-set thriller to win Australian Open Men's single title.

The Italian defeated his strong opponent 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-3 on his way to win the first major grand slam of the new year.

He became the first Italian to win a grand slam since 1976.

In the semi-finals, he defeated world number one Serbian Tennis icon Novak Djokovic to reach the final of the event.
