Kidambi Srikanth, Sameer Verma bow out of Thailand Masters

Bangkok/UNI: Ace Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Sameer Verma were knocked out of the Thailand Masters Badminton after losing their respective matches in the first round, here on Wednesday.

While, Kidambi lost to Shesar Hiren Rhustavito of Indonesia, Verma suffered crushing defeat to Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia.

The fifth seeded Srikanth went down to Shesar Hiren Rhustavito of Indonesia 21-12 14-21 12-21, in a match that lasted 48 minutes. This was Srikanth's third consecutive first-round exit this season.

On the other hand, Verma lost to Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia 16-21 15-21 in a 39-minute men's singles match in the BWF World Tour Super 300 event.
Later in the day, Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy are scheduled to start their campaign.

While Saina will begin her campaign against Denmark's Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt, Prannoy will face Malaysia's Liew Daren in the first round.
