Colombo, June 27 (IBNS): Former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara on Saturday announced he will retire from Test cricket after the second Test against India.

"I have decided to call it a day on my international career after the second test of the India series," Sangakkara told reporters.

Sangakkara said he had earlier decided to quit from international cricket after the World Cup.

"Following a discussion with the previous selection committee, I gave them my word that I would be available for these two series," he said.

"I said that I would be unable to play six test matches," the cricketer said.

He is playing the 132nd Test match of his career against Pakistan.

The wicket-keeper-batsman has scored 12,305 runs in the longest format of the game.

He has hit 38 centuries, 52 fifties in Tests.

He has already quit ODIs and T20 International cricket.
