Man City close gap at top of EPL to 6 points

Adam Lallana's 85th minute goal saved a point for Liverpool to maintain their unbeaten start to the season after Marcos Rashford had opened the scoring for their bitter rivals nine minutes before halftime on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool had appealed for a foul in the buildup to Rashford's goal, but a draw was probably a fair result and cut the lead of Jurgen Klopp's side at the top of the table to six points over reigning Champions, Manchester City.

Injuries meant that Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola was forced to play midfielders Rodri and Fernandinho in central defense for his side's tricky visit to face Crystal Palace, but the duo did what was asked of them and quick-fire goals from Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus in the 19th and 41st minute were enough to give City all three points.

Leicester City maintained their excellent start to the season with a 2-1 win at home to Burnley.
Chris Wood's opened the scoring for the visitors midway through the first half, but Jamie Vardy's sixth goal of the season cancelled it out just before halftime before Youri Tielemans earned Leicester all three points, although Burnley were annoyed when Woods had what would have been his second goal of the game ruled out by the VAR.

Tottenham's woes continue as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by bottom of the table and winless Watford and things could have been even worse for Mauricio Pochettino's men but for a controversial end to the match.
Abdoulaye Doucoure put Watford ahead in the sixth minute and it wasn't until the 86th minute that Dele Alli earned a point for Spurs, although the goal was surrounded by confusion as the referee originally signaled a goal only for the VAR to first signal it had been ruled out for offside before then deciding it was valid.

Chelsea overcame some stubborn resistance from Newcastle United before Marcos Alonso's 73rd minute shot from the left of the penalty area gave them all three points at home to Newcastle United, who are finally looking more organized under Steve Bruce.

Brighton continue without a league win away to Aston Villa, losing 2-1 in their 12th league game at Villa Park without ever travelling back south with all three points.

Adam Webster had put the visitors ahead, but Brighton were undone when Adam Mooy was sent off for two yellow card in the 35th minute.
Even so, Brighton can count themselves unlucky because although Jack Grealish equalized in first half stoppage time, the 10-man visitors held on until the fourth minute of added time in the second half when Matt Taggart thumped home an unstoppable shot to give Villa all three points.

Everton boss Marco Silva will breathe a bit easier as his side moved out of the bottom three with a 2-0 win at home to West Ham with goals from Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Wolves and Southampton shared the points in a 1-1 draw, which was enough to lift Southampton out of the bottom three, while it was 0-0 in a surprisingly flat game between Bournemouth and Norwich, who remain second from bottom.
