Sharjah/UNI: Brilliant fifties by Mandeep Singh and Chris Gayle guided Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 46th match of the IPL 2020 match, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, here on Monday.

KXIP maintained a perfect line and length as they restricted KKR on 149/9 in 20 overs.

Shubman Gill emerged as the leading scorer for KKR. The young opener scored 57 from 37 balls and stitched a crucial 81-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Eoin Morgan (40 off 25).

Mohammad Shami was the standout bowler from KXIP, picking three wickets in his four-over quota.

In reply, KXIP scored 150/2 in 18.5 overs, chasing the target quite comfortably.

Chris Gayle hit a 29-ball 51, smashing 5 sixes and 2 boundaries. Mandeep Singh, who opened again in the absence of Mayank Agarwal, hit 66 from 56 balls and remained unbeaten as KXIP got past the finish line with 7 balls to spare at Sharjah.

This was KXIP's fifth win on the trot and they moved to fourth spot in the points table.
