Match officials for the FIFA Club World Japan 2016 appointed

Zurich, Nov 16 (IBNS): FIFA has announced the match officials who will be in charge at the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2016, an official release stated.

Six referee trios, one from each confederation, will officiate the matches.

Additionally, FIFA selected six referees to conduct some tests as video assistant referees (VARs) throughout the tournament.

The preparation of the referees for this important competition includes a wide variety of topics such as: reading of the game; Football understanding; positioning to adjudge offside; teamwork; the importance of making the right decisions and emphasizing how to obtain the best position or angle of view - be at the right place at the right moment.

"All these aspects reflect the philosophy of FIFA’s refereeing department; they are key topics in preparation for tournaments and are fundamental to achieving consistency and uniformity in officiating games at a high level," the release added.

The FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2016 presented by Alibaba E-Auto will take place in Osaka and Yokohama between Dec 8 and 18, 2016.

The Final will be played on Dec 18, at the International Stadium Yokohama.
