Mohammed Shami took my advice but sadly Pak bowlers didn't: Shoaib Akhtar

Rawalpindi: Revealing that Indian pace bowler Mohammed Shami had sought his advice after the World Cup, former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar felt sad as no one from his own nation asks for any assistance.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Akhtar, who was a fast bowler, said, "After the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Shami had called me. He was depressed and sad as he could not play in the last match and make India win. But I asked him to maintain his fitness and become the master of reverse-swing. I am really happy for him."

"Sadly, no one from my nation approaches me or seeks advice. That is the sad state of affairs as my country is concerned," the Rawalpindi Express said after Shami clinched five wickets in the last innings of first Test match against South Africa.

Riding on Shami's impressive bowling, Virat Kohli-led India defeated South Africa in the first Test in Visakhapatnam by 203 runs.
