Antigua, July 3 (IBNS): A 114-ball 54 runs innings by MS Dhoni in a match that India lost against West Indies by 11 runs have dragged criticisms from fans on social media.

After restricting West Indies at 189 runs for the loss of nine wickets, India unexpectedly were bowled out for 178 runs in the fourth match of the ODI series here.

The win by West Indies leave the series balance at 2-1.

India will need one more win to clinch series while a victory by West Indies will help them level it 2-2.

Indian run chase won criticisms from fans as social media was buzzing on Monday morning with remarks over the match and Dhoni's slow batting performance.

Ajinkya Rahane gave India a solid start at the top of the innings with 60 runs.

However, with batsmen losing their wickets at regular intervals, India were once reduced to 6-116.

Known for his heroic batting, Dhoni played an innings which was completely away from his style.

In his slow-paced 114-ball knock, Dhoni smashed just one boundary.

Dhoni reached his  fifty off 108 balls.

This was the slowest fifty scored by an Indian batsman in 16 years.

The record for the slowest Indian batsman to score a fifty remains in the name of Sadagoppan Ramesh who had completed hisfifty off the maximum number of balls (117) for India against Kenya in 1999.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra tweeted: "Woke up to realise that India lost to WI. Pinched myself. So, India's last three ODI losses are to teams ranked 9th (WI), 8th & 7th ."

"Didn't see India's chase...how did it come down to 14 runs off the last over while chasing 190? Anyone was awake throughout? #WIvInd," he said.

Sports columnist Ayaz Memon posted: "Surprising news to wake up to, India being bundled out by West Indies. Remarkably poor effort. But leaves series nicely poised."

Sports anchor Zainab Abbas reacted: "Dhoni 54(114) am i reading that right? #WIvInd."
