NZ beat Australia by one wicket in WC Derby
After bowling out Australia for 151 runs, New Zealand reached the target of 152 runs by losing nine wickets in 23.1 overs.
Starc nearly stunned Australia by taking six wickets.
Brendon McCullum remained the top scorer for the side with his 50. In his 24-ball knock he hammered seven boundaries and three sixes.
After he departed, New Zealand kept losing wickets at regular intervals to make situations tough for the hosts.
Kane Williamson (45*) played a matured knock and added 52 runs in the fifth wicket partnership with Corey Anderson (26) to reach the score to 131.
Glenn Maxwell gave New Zealand a crucial break through and took the wicket of Anderson in the 20th over.
New Zealand again lost few quick wickets as
Luke Ronchi (6), Daniel Vettori (2), Adam Milne (0) and Tim Southee (0) departed and made situation tough for New Zealand.
Williamson kept himself focused and scored the remaining runs to register a memorable World Cup victory for the former semi-finalists.
Starc took six wickets by giving away 28 runs to destroy the New Zealand batting line-up.
Earlier, Australia were all out for 151 runs.
The four -time World Cup champions were reduced from 80-1 to 106-9 at one point of time in the innings with Brad Haddin (43) and
Pat Cummins (7) joining for a 45 runs 10th wicket partnership to take the scorecard beyond the 150 runs mark.
New Zealand are currently topping the Pool A with 8 points from four matches.
