Peter Siddle hopeful to return to Australian T20 squad

Sydney, Jan 1 (IBNS):  Veteran Australian pacer Peter Siddle is looking forward to returning to the national T20 squad after his strong performance in the ongoing Big Bash League.

Siddle has always been regarded as a specialist Test bowler.

Playing for the Adelaide Strikers, Siddle has showed good form in the limited over format.

The fast bowler picked up key wickets of Jos Buttler, Shane Watson and Joe Root during his match-turning 3-20 haul in the Adelaide Strikers' 20-run New Year's Eve win over the Sydney Thunder.

That gives the 34-year-old a stunning average of 7.00 and economy rate of 4.66 in the ongoing T20 tournament.

34-year-old Siddle is a 64-Test veteran but has only played 17 one-day internationals and two Twenty20s for the current World Champions.

"I'd love to get back in the yellow-and-green for Australia in the shorter format," Siddle told Cricket Australia website.

"I think I did (always have T20 bowling skills) but I hadn't played enough to be able to bring them out," he said.

"Last year, playing a full season gave me an opportunity to train and prepare for it," he said.

India is currently playing the Test series against Australia.

They are 2-1 up in the series.

The two teams will face each other in a T20 series soon.
